It’s going around
I called the school this morning to tell them Seven wouldn’t be in because she was sick. The nice office lady said she was sorry, and asked what was going on, was it a cold? I said, no, it was a fever with vomiting. She said, oh, poor dear, that’s been going around, I’ll let her teacher know.
I hung up and thought: that’s been going around? Anything that’s ever going around is bad. Everything. It’s always a cold going around, or the flu, or the collected works of Dan Brown. Nothing good ever goes around. See, what I really want is stuff like this:
- Wow! Everyone in my office has been coming down with these terrible cases of high work-ethic.
- Sorry, I can’t go out tonight. I caught that personal responsibility bug that’s been all over the place.
- I’m calling in sick today. Actually, for all the rest of the days. I have some serious independent wealth going on.
C’mon, Science. Let’s make this happen. Oh, and figure out a way I can sleep at my desk today. Sweet, sad, vomiting children can take a lot out of a guy.
