We’re going to do Christmas tree stuff today. My daughter rooted out the tree skirt we have, which is white with silver snowflakes on it, the edges trimmed in white faux-fur. She has draped this over herself like a cloak, then dressed herself underneath in all white. She calls herself the Ice Princess. After arranging herself thusly, she handed me one of the cat’s toys, which is basically a very large, super-crinkly cone hat. She insisted I put it on my head. She called me her elf. After a minute I doffed my hat. She noticed and asked why I took it off. I said I removed it because it wasn’t conducive to Human Dignity. She gave me a look that implied I hadn’t a clue what that meant. She might have a point.
